KP PRODUCTIONS

This is a short film that I directed and was post production supervisor for the “Director’s Cut” which you see here. (This final version, with very minor tweaks, was completed a couple weeks after the original project. Read on for more details...)

All principal photography and all major elements including graphics and original music were completed during the 48 Hour Film Project 2007, in which teams were given 48 hours to write a script, film it, complete the editorial and deliver a final copy of the 4 - 7 minute film to the project’s producers. We were given five elements that we had to include in the film:

   1) Character Name: Alice or Alex Gomm
   2) Character Type: County Employee
   3) Line of Dialogue: “Get that thing away from me.”
   4) Prop: Spoon
   5) Genre: Horror

For this project, I led my cast and crew of twenty three on an all digital, all high-def workflow, starting with a Panasonic P2-based HVX-200 720p camera shooting at 24fps progressive, my on-set Final Cut Pro laptop edit system for immediate capture and viewing, through 720p DVCProHD editorial with a G5, Kona 2, xServe RAID, Final Cut Studio edit system that I built, audio post-production in Pro Tools, and final output to high definition for the festival’s movie theatre screening on a 2K projector.

All of the music you hear in “Boxing Alice” are original compositions by Leo Der Stepanian, a.k.a. Lucky Leo.
